On April 29, 2019, the IBEW Life Saving Award was presented IBEW Local Union 636 member Brother Jason Spence.
Brother Spence is the trainer on his son Tyson’s hockey team ,the Deseronto Bantam Bulldogs. On December 22, 2018 the Bulldogs had a game against the Prince Edward County Kings when one of the Kings players suffered a cardiac arrest during the game. Both coaching staffs, two parents (who are nurses), and the players all worked together which resulted in the Kings player being revived and saving the player’s life. Brother Spence, being the Trainer on the Bulldogs, was one of the coaching staff that was involved in saving the player’s life.
Jay was very modest in telling of his involvement of this incident, but anyone that is involved in this particular situation should be recognized as a part of a great outcome from a very serious issue that could have ended with a very different outcome.
