I send this correspondence to advise you that after long and thoughtful deliberation, I have decided to retire as International Vice President for the First District Canada, effective July 1, 2018. My career in the IBEW spans 42 years, and although I’ve enjoyed this time tremendously, I feel it is time to re-focus my attention to those in my life, who in many ways, were in the shadows throughout my working career.
I want to thank every one of you for your support, cooperation, and most importantly, your friendship over the course of my time as International Vice President. If there’s anything I’ve learned in this capacity, it’s your dedication and commitment to the IBEW, that solidifies our collective reputation as the greatest organization in the labour movement. Your willingness to accept change, tackle challenges head on, and make the tough decisions, made my job easier, and for that I will be forever grateful.
It is also my pleasure to announce that International Representative Tom Reid has been appointed by the International Executive Council, and approved by International President Lonnie Stephenson, to fulfill the remainder of this term as International Vice President. Please give Tom your cooperation and support in his new role.
Thank you again on behalf of me and my family and thank you for what you do every day on behalf of the IBEW.
God Bless each of you, and God Bless the IBEW.
In solidarity,
Bill Daniels
International Vice President
