IBEW is proud to support the campaign to designate July 10th as National Lineworker Appreciation Day.
Together with our industry partners, we’re calling on the Government of Canada to recognize Canada’s lineworkers and the essential work they do to build the infrastructure which powers our daily lives. July 10 has been chosen to align with the Edison Electric Institute’s Lineworker Appreciation Day in the United States.
July 10 is also an important day for us. Henry Miller, our founder and first Grand President, died on the job on July 10, 1896. At the time, 1 out of every 2 electrical workers were being killed on the job. That’s why he fought for a union and apprenticeships, a fight we continue today.
The campaign will officially launch with a special event on October 2 in Ottawa, but you can get a head-start by signing the petition and tweeting with the hashtag #LineworkerDay! Please also follow and like us on the brand new IBEW Canada Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Looking forward to working with you to make sure lineworkers get the recognition they deserve!
